First Person Viewpoint is deliberately a small project in public.
That means the website does not need to pretend the project is a giant platform, and the application does not need a roadmap full of features simply because larger products have them.
Build the interesting part first
The interesting part is the loop between a player, a narrator, and a world that keeps changing.
Everything else should earn its place around that loop.
For now that means focusing on things such as:
- persistent worlds;
- local model support;
- branching stories;
- export and restore;
- clearer world-authoring tools.
Why open source
Keeping the project open makes experimentation easier. People can inspect how the system works, modify it, run it locally, and challenge assumptions in the architecture.
It also keeps the project honest. If something is early, experimental, or incomplete, it can simply be described that way.
There is still a lot to build, but that is part of the point.
